FTP error message "Quota limit exceeded"

Why do I get the error message "Quota limit exceeded" when uploading files and how can I fix it?

Updated yesterday

The error message "Quota limit exceeded" occurs during file uploads via FTP when the available storage space of the web hosting product is 100% full during the upload and additional files are uploaded.

If the available storage space of the web hosting product is completely used up, the upload is aborted and "Quota limit exceeded" is returned.

Since this occurs due to the used storage space, it can be resolved in two ways:

  • order a storage space upgrade

  • clean up legacy or no longer needed data

1 - Storage space upgrade

To increase your storage space, please contact our sales team via email at [email protected]

2 - Clean up data

Data cleanup can be done via FTP, just like uploading.

Log in via FTP using your FTP client and clean up any legacy or no longer needed data.

In FileZilla, for example, you can do this by right-clicking on the file or directory you want to delete and selecting "Delete."
