1 - What is an IP address?
Every network device (computer, smartphone, server, printer, etc.) has its own IP address.
Depending on the network type (internet or internal home network), a distinction is made between a public and a private IP address.
When you access a server from your company or home, it identifies your device using your IP address.
You can compare the IP address to your house number. All residents of the same building (or in our case, the same internet connection/Wi-Fi network) have the same house number (external IP address).
Why do we need your IP address?
In the event of a support request, we will ask for your public IP address. This not only helps us troubleshoot issues but also allows us to locate and identify your requests in server log files.
2 - How do I find out my external IP address?
If we request that you send us these documents, you can access the following URL in your web browser: https://hilfe.internex.at
Please note: In this case, the website must be opened on the affected device. Reading the public IP address on a different device will lead to incorrect information (e.g., from your mobile internet connection on a smartphone).
