Difference between Mailbox Storage and Quota
When ordering your Managed Mail Box, you can choose between different packages with varying storage capacities:
Mail Box - 2 GB storage - 1 mailbox
Mail Box Plus - 12 GB storage - 3 mailboxes
Mail Box Business - 50 GB storage - 15 mailboxes
However, this does not automatically mean that the mailboxes created in the product will have a size of, for example, 12 GB in Mail Box Plus. The 12 GB refers to the total storage space available to you in the product. You can divide this storage space among three mailboxes, for example, two mailboxes with 5 GB each and one mailbox with 2 GB.
With the Mail Box package, it is advisable to allocate the entire 2 GB of storage space to the single included mailbox as a quota.
With the Mail Box Business package, 50 GB of storage space can be divided among 15 mailboxes.
View and Edit Your Quota
To view your remaining total quota or the quota for a specific mailbox, first navigate to the Mail Hosting Manager for your Managed Mail product. Instructions can be found here: Where can I manage my Managed Mail Box?
At least one mailbox must exist to view the quota. If no mailbox currently exists in your package, you can create one by clicking "Neue Mailbox."
For the mailbox where you want to view or edit the quota, click the green "Speicher" button.
Here you will find an overview of the used storage space, the quota for each mailbox, and the remaining total quota.
Benutzter Speicherplatz: "Benutzter Speicherplatz" describes the storage currently occupied by emails or data in the mailbox on the hard drive.
Quota: The quota describes the allocated storage space for the individual mailbox. For example, the mailbox in the screenshot can store a maximum of 200 MB of data.
Verbleibende Gesamtquota: The "verbleibende Gesamtquota" describes the storage space still available in your Managed Mail package that can be allocated to mailboxes.
In the screenshot, 1800 MB of total quota remains. Since the mailbox currently has 200 MB allocated, the mailbox quota can be increased to a total of 2000 MB, for example. To do this, enter the desired quota and click "OK".
The overview also shows that the mailbox quota has now been increased to 2.00 GB (2000 MB). You can click on "Speicher" at any time to view the current storage usage.
Please note that mailbox quotas are not automatically adjusted when you upgrade your storage space. Only the remaining total quota is increased; you must manually adjust the quota of individual mailboxes via the mail hosting manager.
When creating a new mailbox, the system typically suggests 10% of the remaining total quota as storage space – you can, of course, adjust and increase this as needed.
