Setting up Direct-Setup in Outlook (New) for Windows

How to set up your Direct Setup Exchange mailbox in Outlook (New) for Windows.

Updated over 4 months ago

Please note that setting up a Hosted Exchange mailbox in Outlook (New) is only possible via IMAP, as Outlook (New) doesn't support Exchange as of now. Calendar and contact synchronization is therefore disabled.

We recommend using Outlook (Classic) as an alternative.

1 - Open Outlook

Start the Outlook (New) application.

2 - Enter your email address

Enter the email address/username of your Direct-Setup Exchange mailbox and click "Continue".

Then wait until the necessary settings have been loaded.

3 - Enter password

Enter your password and click "Show more".

4 - Enter required information

Please complete/change the information entered. The following information is required to set up your Hosted Exchange Direct setup mailbox via IMAP in Outlook (New):

IMAP incoming server: at.exchangeserver.online

Port: 993

Encryption: SSL/TLS

SMTP outgoing server: at.exchangeserver.online

Port: 587

Encryption: StartTLS

SMTP username: Your email address

SMTP password: Your password

Then click "Continue".

5 - Synchronize Account

In Outlook (New), you need to synchronize your IMAP settings with Microsoft. Click "Continue" and wait until the synchronization is complete.

6 - Diagnostic Data

Accept the diagnostic data setting and click "Continue".

7 - Optional Data

Reject the optional data setting and click "Accept".

8 - Analyze content

Accept the analysis of your data by clicking "Continue".

9 - Language, Time, and Theme Settings

Apply the settings from Windows by clicking "Apply Settings".

10 - Completion

Wait until Outlook (New) has set up your mailbox. You can now access your emails.
